Bio
Teresa Mock (she/her) is a theatre director, producer, actor-deviser, and teaching artist, with experience in costume design and mask making.
As a director past works include: Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia presented by An Opera Theatre (Southern Theatre 2022); Hit the Wall by Ike Holter presented by Mixed Precipitation (Southern Theatre 2019), Besse (Skylark Opera, 2022.) She was assistant director to Risa Brainin (Murder on the Orient Express, Guthrie 2023.)
Mock wrote and performed The Uncertainty Principle, a biographical solo performance exploring the ripple effects of her father’s Vietnam War trauma, created in collaboration with Heidi Arneson (Open Eye Theatre, 2021.) Her former company We Theater created and produced the premier of The Shadow War, a culturally intersectional telling of The Secret War in Laos, presented in partnership with The Center for Hmong Studies, with participation from Lao Assistance Center, and SGU Veterans. Other works include: Batmama (MN Fringe, 2010 – MPR, “Best Costumes”), and autobiographical solo performance Piece Story (20% Theatre, 2007 - Curve Magazine, “Best of Lesbian Regional Theatre.”)
As an actor, Mock has worked in the Twin Cities with Park Square Theatre, The Playwright Center, Walking Shadow, Off-Leash Area, Interact Center for Visual and Performing Arts, Red Eye Theatre, Theatre Unbound, Z Puppets Rosenschnoze, St. Croix Festival Theatre, among others.
As a costume designer, Mock has designed 6 season of Mixed Precipitation’s annual Picnic Operetta, as well as several productions for educational organizations. She was also developed costumes and headed wardrobe for season 1 of Ramadan Fel Marikan which aired on Numidia TV in Algeria, 2019.
Mock holds an MFA in Lecoq Based Actor Created Theatre from The London International School for Performing Arts (LISPA) through Naropa University, and a BA in Theatre from UMN. She is a 2020 MN State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant recipient, 2023 Arts Impact Award recipient, and member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
Mock is currently working as a teaching artist with Guthrie Theatre, Children’s Theatre Company, and freelances throughout the Twin Cities.
